Young Scholar Programme
Middle East Theater’s Young Scholar Program 2023, is the first of it's kind in the Kurdistan Region-Iraq, provides youth with a space and an opportunity to enhance their writing and research skills through presentations and workshops focused on the latest techniques in quality journalism and research.
Project details and duration:
Our Young Scholar Cohort program consists of three cohorts each taking place in three cities of Kurdistan (Duhok, Erbil and Sulaymaniyah) for 6 weeks during which participants will engage in various indoor workshops, trainings and outdoor activities taking place one day each week. These workshops are presented by Dr. Thomas Schmidinger, who is a Political Scientist and a visiting Professor. Applicants will be participating in a three hour session each day a week, discussing important social and political issues to encourage debate and exchange of ideas, and engage in activities and exercises aimed at further training their critical thinking skills and ability to work with their international peers.
Selection Criteria:
Only 15 participants will be selected, based on their English proficiency, the quality of their writings and their promise to committee to the program.
Who can apply:
Senior and graduate students from any university in Duhok city can apply.
Grant:
All participants will have the great opportunity to have their pieces published in ME-T's Journal and also will receive an invitation to attend the Summit event. Three participants from the program will be selected based on their contribution to the program in terms of quality journalism, good research, commitment to the program and consistency with the mission and vision of ME-T. These participants will receive three forms of grants from Middle East Theater.
First grant:Fully funded internship to Berlin.
Second grant: 300$
Third grant: 200$
