Introduction
In ME-T’s continuous attempt to support youth, on the 7th of March 2024, ME-T hosted an event for Rojhat Ibrahim to discuss his book (I Can!) in an open panel where more than 50 young people attended and were inspired by his story and journey in writing his book.
Rojhat Ibrahim
Rojhat’s story began when his family’s financial struggles compelled him to drop out of school in pursuit of employment to improve his family’s life circumstances. Little did he know that his path would lead him to a profound encounter with resilience and faith; it was when his life took an unexpected turn that led him on an emotional yet fearless journey. After a long fight with leukemia and family struggles, Rojhat’s story of resilience has inspired thousands of youth as he articulates it in his book.
I Can!
His book (I Can!) Rojhat’s battle against leukemia and life offers readers a glimpse into his emotional and physical challenges. What makes this book exceptional is its intimate portrayal of how Rojhat’s connection with his faith developed during this trying period. Faced with the uncertainties of a life-altering illness, he turned to his faith for solace, finding strength and comfort in prayer and reflection. The pages of "I Can" resonate with Rojhat’s unwavering determination and newfound closeness with himself, which became a source of comfort and resilience throughout the cancer diagnosis journey. His words became a beacon of hope for those grappling with their adversities, illustrating that even in the darkest moments, the light of faith can guide one through.
The Event
ME-T is a platform for youth to express themselves, and this time we offered the stage to Rojhat. At this event, Rojhat talked about his story and his book, inspiring more than 50 attendees with his story of resilience and how he managed to overcome all these difficulties and become a better person mentally and physically. An open panel discussion allowed attendees to engage with Rojhat and shed light on his writing journey, encouraging them to share their own stories in the future.
The Impact
During the event, the attendees expressed their gratitude for such events and showed the importance of giving the spotlight to inspiring youth from our community to talk about their stories of success and inspire them. As one of the attendees stated, “Hearing success and resilience stories from people in our community shows us that we can do it too!”. It is times like this that make us proud of our platform and motivate us to offer more projects to the youth. Furthermore, Rojhat remarked, “Sadly in our community, I found very little support for my book. People are more interested in telling foreign success stories than our own, but ME-T was one of the first platforms to offer such an opportunity for me to tell my story and talk about my book. As a young person, this has motivated me a lot. ME-T offered me a stage to tell my story.”
