Apple Inaugurated The First Store In India

Business
By: Hozan Qaraman

Apple inaugurated the first store in Mumbai, India, with the aim of moving away almost all its dependence from China’s manufacturing industry. 14 years ago, Apple had ribbon cutting the first store in China due to the suitable market there. As far as it is considered, it is India’s turn now and Apple switches the Chinese market to India's.

Apple CEO Tim Cook interpreted the situation of India’s market in 2017 as how China was worthy of establishing the firm’s dependence in both manufacturing and selling terms.

According to figures, Apple has benefited hugely with the growth in China’s economy and its cheap labour market over the past years, but the recent political and economical reasons that were firstly seen under the Trump administration pushes Apple towards a possible move from China. However, Beijing’s modern policy is to care of its own economy more than others, so that has made Apple consider its destiny in China.

India is about to become the most populous country and has both risks and opportunities for Apple. For instance, Indians' cheap labour market would make profits for the firm despite that the country has a poorer population compared to China. Even though, according to Bloomberg, Apple had a 50% increase in revenues in India’s market in the first quarter of 2023 as that reflects positivity for the company and its future in India.

Israel Opens an New Embassy Near Iran Border

Iran

On Thursday, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen opened a permanent embassy in Turkmenistan, a Central Asian country. This move establishes Israel's strongest diplomatic presence close toIran and demonstrates its efforts to enhance relationship with Iran's neighboring countries. Despite establishing diplomatic relations three decades ago, there was only a temporary Israeli mission in Ashgabat, and Turkmenistan, which is predominantly Muslim, still does not have an embassy in Israel.

Foreign Minister Eli Cohen stated that the opening of the permanent Israeli embassy in Turkmenistan is symbolic, as it comes after 30 years of strengthening their relationship. He expressed his excitement about inaugurating the embassy during his visit to Ashgabat, the capital, and mentioned on Twitter that it is located just 17 km from the Iranian border. Cohen emphasized the significance of Israel's relationship with Turkmenistan in terms of security and politics and mentioned that this visit would bolster Israel's standing in the region. It was due to pressure from Iran, Turkmenistan had rejected the appointment of an Israeli ambassador for multiple years, up until 2013. After that, Israeli ambassadors were stationed in hotels in the capital city of Turkmenistan while waiting for the establishment of a permanent embassy. On Thursday, Foreign Minister Cohen officially opened the new embassy. Israel has two other permanent embassies in the region, located in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

What adds to the geopolitical importance of Turkmenistan is that it is  a country located on the Caspian Sea without direct access to the ocean, bordered by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Iran. Times of Israel pointed out that Turkmenistan's border with Iran is over 700 miles long, which presents an attractive opportunity for Israel to enter the Islamic Republic as it seeks to halt Tehran's nuclear program.Currently, Israel's trade with Turkmenistan stands at only $8 million per year, but it is expected to increase with the opening of the new embassy. Turkmenistan is also rich in natural gas resources and has significant trade relations with China. They  have strengthened their connections with Gulf nations in recent years as its relationship with Iran became strained, mainly because of economic disagreements. The Turkmen administration aims to entice investments from Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, and benefit from the ambitious Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, among other things.

The Three Stages of Film Production

Culture
By: Birhat Atrushi

Making a film may seem an amateur and entertaining subject and perhaps it is a lot of ‘having fun’ and less focus on instructions.

But even if you are a low-budget independent artist or a blockbuster giant, there is one process that if kept in mind, you shall be able to transmit your subliminal message from imagination to a moving picture!

In the industry, it is called the three stages of film production. It includes the planning, application, and distribution of a film in order to realize the idea of  your narrative (production) through careful planning and writing (pre-production) and its later merging, editing, and distribution (post-production).

The many disciplines needed to make a film, from Directing, Writing, Editing, Scoring, and even acting, are needed to distribute to each stage to smoothly run the affairs of a film.

Take for instance an actor, who needs the direction of a film director and a script written by a screenwriter. A script falls under the category of pre-production for its dependence on almost everyone. From the editor, director and so on.

The three stages of film production:

- Pre-production

Which includes, scriptwriting, budget planning, and generally, you should already have a storyboard.

-Production

This is when the film is ready to be recorded. A location from the scouting is recognised and led by the production of the team to let the director create his art

- Post-production

This is when the recording has been finalized and the film will go through a period of editing and distribution for the film by the production and distribution company.

Sun Damage on the Body and How To Prevent It

Self-development
By: Ayat Abdulhameed

As summer is on the way and the sun appears at its highest elevation, it's important to know that our bodies are made to make good use of the sun. The sun rays help boost the body's vitamin D, keep our sleep pattern on track, and heal inflammation. But too much exposure to several sun rays can severely damage our skin, causing skin cancer, sunstroke, decreased elasticity, and hyperpigmentation. Energy from the sun reaches the earth as visible, infrared, and ultraviolet rays, ultraviolet A (UVA) is made up of wavelengths 230 to 400 nm in length, the ultraviolet B (UVB) wavelengths are 280 to 320 nm, and the ultraviolet C (CVC wavelengths are 100 to 280 nm. Only UVA and UVB rays reach the earth's surface, for the UVC is absorbed by the earth's atmosphere.

-UVA rays cause aging, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity.

-UVB rays cause skin cancer.

UVA increases the damaging effects of UVB, including skin cancer and cataracts. Exposure to harmful sun rays can cause serious long-term problems, such as wrinkles, pigmentation, loss of skin elasticity, and broken capillaries. Moreover, Ultraviolet radiation causes DNA changes in the skin that can lead to premature aging and skin cancer.

As we can see from the image above of a truck driver, the prolonged sun exposure from the driver's side caused him severe wrinkles on one side. Long exposure to strong sunlight and heat can also cause life-threatening conditions, such as heatstroke, when body temperature rises above 40 degrees, causing seizures and loss of consciousness. If left untreated, it can lead to organ failure, a coma, or death. A proper way to protect yourself from harmful sun rays is essential to learn and to teach kids as well. You can protect your skin from damage by using proper sunscreen on the skin. Sunscreen works by blocking the penetration of UV radiation, and SPF is a measure of how much UV radiation is required to produce sunburn on protected skin, sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 is recommended, which blocks 97% of the sun's UV rays. A way to protect yourself from sunstrokes during hot weather is to stay out of the sun during heat waves, drink plenty of fluids, and keep your body cold. And remember, prevention is better than cure.

Creating Art Masterpieces with AI Midjourney

Technology-AI
By: Herish Badal

Midjourney is an artificial intelligence (AI) program created by a research lab called Midjourny, Inc. Its release was on July 12, 2022, based in San Francisco, in the United States. Midjourney generates images from "prompts", natural language descriptions. A prompt is a set of instructions or guidelines that the Midjourney interprets to produce an image; it is basically text descriptions for users. This AI model, and many others such as Open AI's Chat-GPT and Being, are becoming increasingly popular very rapidly due to their capabilities to provide answers to whatever comes to human beings' minds. However, Midjourny is very popular among artistic, digital graphic designers, and architects.

Currently, this tool is still in beta version, but users use Midjourney Discord bot to create art masterpieces. To start creating designs or images with AI Midjourney, you need to join Discord chat rooms for Midjourney with a Mac or PC computer. You can request any design you wish. If you can put it in words, it can put it in designs. It will produce the most beautiful visual with little-to-none effort. This helps designers and engineers to come up with outstanding design concepts, plans, and inspiration.

Midjourney can be useful in many industries and is now used to produce sophisticated architectural designs, "work arts", art styles, illustrations, photography, product design, etc. It can actually design anything you can imagine.

In the first example, this tool was asked: "Midjourney prompts: a cover photography, body and face photo, a beautiful young woman covered in water and liquid, clothes old and ragged, half buried on trash and garbage, hyper-realistic, model photography, 500px poses, detailed, intricate." In the second example, it was asked: "Midjourney prompts: curve roof, parametric architecture design, architecture, futuristic art performing center –v".

One of the main challenges of AI Midjourney is that it is not yet possible to edit AI designs it produces, and it has limited image resolutions. In conclusion, AI is dominating our lives in all areas, and we would have to adapt to it sooner or later. Tools like Midjourney will not be the last AI products that will impact the way we learn, and the way we look at knowledge and creativity will completely change. People now use Chat-GPT and Midjourney to develop business ideas from scratch and run their social media and blog posts completely dependent on them. The biggest question is: will these AI-powered tools negatively impact future generations? I think we would have to wait longer to figure it out.

Laziness: Is it Physical or Psychological?

Self-development
By: Ayat Abdulhameed

You may feel guilty for being lazy and people may judge you for postponing and being a couch potato, but what is laziness? And what are the reasons behind it? Is it actually a personal choice or a combination of biological and psychological reasons?

Laziness or indolence is the unwillingness to act or make an effort despite having the ability or ply oneself. According to this definition, a student who can't get their work done because of attention disorder would not meet his definition of lazy but a student who has the full ability and still chooses not to do it meets this definition. In psychology, laziness may reflect a lack of self-esteem, and positive recognition by others, a lack of discipline from low self-confidence, or a lack of interest in an activity or faith in its efficacy. Psychological causes of laziness might include:

- Over-stimulation: over-stimulation causes an increase in dopamine which, over time, neurotransmitters won't be released over productive actions, this is why platforms with short entertaining videos like TikTok can be dangerous in the long run.

- Procrastination: procrastinating can make the task look harder and harder and cause fear of startin,, which leads to laziness.

- Staying in your comfort zone: comfort zone might be the main reason for laziness. It makes you comfortable with your current situation and life and prevents you from challenging and developing yourself.

- Having too many things to do or too many options: when tasks are accumulated, you are most likely to be stressed and overwhelmed, and in order to discard that feeling, you will end up avoiding them.

To prevent that, it is important to set priorities and finish tasks on time.It can also have other factors, such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.

As for physical reasons, it can be due to tiredness caused by medical conditions, such as

- Anemia

- Hypothyroidism

- Chronic fatigue

- Diabetes

- Sleep Apnoea

- Fibromyalgia

- Thyroid deficiency

 - Vitamin Deficiencies

If you feel guilty for being lazy or blame someone for being lazy, remember there are many reasons behind it. Find the motive to look for the reasons and work on it, only then you will be able to achieve your full potential.
